MUST High School Legit?
“Absolutely, without a doubt!”
This was the only answer I could give to a colleague of mine after a long argument with him regarding the credibility of MUST High School, from where I am trying to complete my high school diploma online. For those of you not in the know, MUST High School offers high school diplomas and GED’s completely online, without you ever having to attend a school campus. So, what’s my friend’s problem?
As he put it, this high school is online, you don’t know when it will disappear, and you’ll never be able to track it. Your hard work, your money, your time, all flushed away! He doesn’t get it does he? There is government protection to prevent this kind of thing from happening. That goes by the name of accreditation.
For the uninitiated, any and all academic institutions, online or otherwise, are required to be accredited by, you guessed it, accrediting bodies, before they are eligible to open their doors to students. In simple English, this means that they have to meet certain minimum standards before the accrediting body will allow them to operate.
One of these standards is reliability of A high school that does not meet the standards is not granted accreditation, and is nothing more than what is known as a “diploma mill” – from where you only get a fake and worthless diploma that is only good for swatting flies.
Now, what about MUST? MUST, as I explained to my dear friend, has been granted accreditation by a body known as International Accreditation Organization (IAO), a global accrediting institute. His eyes rolled. “Accreditation is only regional and national. Any other level, no good. IAO is neither, it is a global accrediting institute. What are you talking about?”
Why is it so hard to comprehend? There IS without a doubt such a thing as global accreditation, which is given to high schools not confined to a single location. Such high schools are typically based online and therefore they allow students from all over the globe to benefit from the education they provide. For such high schools, since they do not operate from any specific location, it is not logical to give them either national or regional accreditation.
Unfortunately, my friend isn’t the only one who thinks this way. There is a complete faction that looks down upon online education of any sort. How ridiculous is that? Just because you studied in a traditional brick-and-mortar high school and took the trouble of attending classes, that is supposed to make you automatically superior to others whose limitations and personal commitments prevent them from doing the same?
Think about it logically. Tens of thousands of graduates pass out of MUST High School every year, and manage to land lucrative jobs in hot-growth professions. What’s more, tens of thousands of students are studying there, and thousands more enrol each year. What other evidence can there be?
